About
This was a capstone project for a textiles class I took. I intended for my textile to be bio-based and made with a limited budget. I was inspired by the art of Noah Purifoy, Tlingit tribe art, sashiko embroidery, origami, and soft robotics. The result was a 12” x 12” textile made of recycled materials, scrap fabric, and kitchen supplies. During this project, I got really into pleating and folding and how it could turn a 2D piece of fabric or paper into a seemingly interactive, “breathing” textile.
